PEACHTREE COMMUNITY NEWS

Peachtree folks gathered for worship on a beautiful spring morning. Sanctuary flowers were given by Jerry and Melba Hobgood in memory of Patricia Wood and Lillie Belle Griffin. They were two beloved church members who recently passed away. The Adult Choir sang "He Hideth My Soul" under the direction of the pastor. The offertory by Jane May was "Jehu, Joy of Man's Desiring."

Beverly Wilson's sermon to the children was about 'crying.' She said that it's okay to cry when we are sad. There are several recorded instances in the Bible of Jesus' crying. One was when his friend, Lazarus died. Another time he cried because people were missing out on what God wanted for them. We know that Jesus loves us and is with us in our sad times.

Pastor Whitehouse's sermon title was "Desperate Times Rewrite Our Priorities." It was based on scripture passage I Samuel 19-20. He spoke of David and the times that King Saul tried to kill him. David was protected by God.

The monthly business conference followed the worship hour. Ricky Tucker moderated the meeting and Beth Baines was clerk. A church-wide dinner is scheduled for next Saturday evening at 5:00Pm. It will be followed by the showing of a Christian movie.

The adult choir will present its Easter Cantata next Sunday, Palm Sunday, at the 11 AM service. It is titled "Champion of Love". Soloists are Jerry Hobgood, Robert Sykes and Marta Whitehouse.

Sympathy to the family of Joyce Roberson Cooper who passed away suddenly at Glenaire in Cary last Wednesday. She grew up in Stanhope and still maintained the family home there. She had many friends and interests in this area. She was a great supporter of Historic Stonewall in Rocky Mount. Her graveside service will be held on April 10 at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville at 11:00 am.

The Momeyer Ruritan Club will hold their BBQ Chicken Fundraiser on Friday, April 7 from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. Peachtree Church will have its annual Pork Barbecue Plate sale on April 21, also from 11:00 am until 7:00pm. You can eat in or take out. Tickets are now available.

The Miller Creek Mennonite Church held a "Singing Service" at White level Baptist Church last Sunday evening. The service was followed by an evening fellowship meal.

In honor of Laicyn's sixth birthday, her grandmother, Beverly Wilson served lunch to the family. She and Laicyn made a delicious chocolate/ strawberry cake. Laciyn was thrilled to blow out the candles.

The Spring Hope Museum has wonderful exhibits of the churches in Spring Hope and surrounding communities. It is open on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00, or by appointment.

Urgent prayer requests are for Billy Bunn who is in ICU at Wake Med and Mrs. Geraldine Manning, who was transferred to Duke Medical Center on Sunday.

Happy birthday to: Brent Griffin, 4/9; Dallas Hill, 4/10; Debbi King, 4/11; Elizabeth Cary Best, 4/ 12!
