TRYSA hosts youth event
HAVING A GREAT TIME. Youngsters enjoyed themselves during a recent academy event hosted by the Tar River Youth Socer Assocation. (Photos Submitted)

ROCKY MOUNT -- The Tar River Youth Soccer Association hosted 250 youth last month in an academy showcase in Nash County.

The event featured 28 teams from 8 different associations across Eastern North Carolina. The event is the largest regional academy showcase in the eastern part of the state this spring.

This event was important for Rocky Mount and Nash County as it brought kids, parents and families to local facilities.

The Rocky Mount Sports Complex got excellent reviews for the facilities as well as the coordination of the event.

The Academy is a developmental program in which skill development is emphasized.

The goal is to develop foot skills and learn the proper way of playing soccer.

The kids learn to move the ball efficiently and quickly from player to player and how to use the entire field.

The Academy program is for kids 7-10 years old who show an interest in soccer.

The goal is to prepare the kids with fundamental skills and preparing them to play at the next level (select).

All coaches within the Academy and Select programs are licensed coaches. This ensures parents and kids that they are receiving a higher level of coaching.

Tryout for the select and academy programs will be held in May.

Additional information for tryouts will be available soon.

TRYSA is affiliated with the HOT SHOT recreational Program. Registration has started and will be ongoing into March.
