The bidding war for the former Spaulding Middle School site continues.
Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools announced last week that it had received another offer of $42,500 to purchase the Spaulding School. That bid will be good through March 30.
The bid comes from SND, LLC and Randall B. Pridgen, out of Rocky Mount.
Previously, the Spaulding Alumni Association had bid $40,000 on the property but has since been outbid by three others, including the most recent bidder. Those others include S&J Holding, LLC out of Nashville as well as Newt Chapin.
The school system is using the upset bid process to dispose of the property. If no one places a higher bid before March 30, the property will go to SND, LLC.
The former Spaulding Middle School building served as home to the migrant center and data center for the school system but those departments have been moved to other locations.
The building is also home to the Spaulding Family Resource Center, which is run by a community organization. The lease for the Spaulding Family Resource Center was set to run out at the end of February but the school system and Town of Spring Hope agreed to extend the lease until the property was sold.
