William Blaine "Bill" Dawes, age 87, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. Born in Wilson County on March 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Jasper Elwood Dawes and Dorothy Jones Dawes. He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard Blaine Dawes; brothers, Alton, Thad, and Shorty Dawes; and sister, Elizabeth Dawes Lancaster.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Glasgow Dawes; daughters, Linda Dawes Lee of Rocky Mount; and Sandra Dawes Davis and husband, Douglas, of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the home of Bill and Lib Dawes.The family will a private Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
