Marvin Lee Coats, age 78, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Born in Nash County on September 1, 1937, he was the son of the late John Crosson Coats and Amanda Dudley Coats. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Danny Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Coats; his daughters, Debbie Pearce and husband, Clarence, of Rocky Mount; and Phyllis Ellen Coats of Rocky Mount; his sons, Robbie Coats and wife, Gusty, of Rocky Mount; and Eddie Coats and wife, Polly, of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Saxon; close friends, Grey and Kathy Wilson; and many other special friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Patrick Sinclair and Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, April 29, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
