PUPPIES can be
EUTHANIZED ...

Four puppies were turned into the Shelter after the fifth pup had died. Everyone thought they had parvo. They were weak and had explosive diarrhea. The Shelter vet was going to euthanize. Our group cannot afford to treat parvo pups, especially four of them. The bill for one can run over a thousand dollars and you still might lose them. But we took a chance, sent them to the vet to be tested and it was negative for parvo! So we decided to save them and they will go to a Rescue this week. There was one obvious sign of what was wrong. They had white gums from blood loss. Blood loss can occur due to intestinal worms and fleas. We almost had to do a transfusion! The four are currently in a puppy pen, in my den, eating like pigs, with the exception of the runt, but she has much improved. This situation could have been prevented by #1, spaying the mama dog before she became pregnant and #2, if you have puppies, don't wait for your puppies to get really sick. Automatically worm them and keep them flea clear. Please be more responsible pet owners with prevention.
