Nash-Rocky Mount School Board okays administrative assignments

Several Nash-Rocky Mount Schools will see changes in leadership, as the Board of Education approved new administrative assignments last Monday night.

The Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools board of Education approve the administrative appointments at a special called meeting on Monday, June 29.

The changes include a new principal at Nashville Elementary School. Quintin Mangano, who most recently served as the principal at Benvenue Elementary School, will lead Nashville Elementary in the coming school year. Sharon Huneycutt, who was the principal at Nashville, will serve as the principal at Swift Creek Elementary School.

Angela Ward, who was the principal at Swift Creek Elementary School, will serve in the upcoming school year as principal at Benvenue Elementary School.

Other changes in leadership include Roderick Tillery, who was the principal at Williford Elementary School. He will serve as the principal of Rocky Mount Middle School in the upcoming school year. Kendrick Alston, who was the assistant principal at D.S. Johnson Elementary School, will be the new principal at Williford Elementary School.

Several changes will also occure for assistant principals.

Christopher Barnes will become the new assistant principal at Nash Central High School. Barnes was an English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Red Oak Middle School.

Cynthia Gorham will become the assistant principal at Spring Hope Elementary School. Gorham was a Career and Technical Education teacher at Parker Middle School.

April Watson will be the new assistant principal at Rocky Mount Middle School. Watson was a Business and Computer Technology teacher at Rocky Mount Middle School.

Tenika Mercer will be the new assistant principal at Coopers Elementary School in the upcoming school year. Mercer was an instructional coach in Pitt County and a former Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools teacher.

The new assignments were effective July 6.
