Chamber seeks nominations for Distinguished Citizen
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for this year’s Distinguished Citizen.

Chamber President Elaine Corbett states in a letter to chamber members, “It is time to submit nominations for the Distinguished Citizen of the Year. The nominee does not have to be a chamber member nor does the nominating individual or group. The nominee should be a citizen or business person from the Nashville area and should be a person who strives to make our community a better place for all.”

The winner of this award will be honored at the annual awards ceremony on March 7, 2013 at the Nash Arts Center in downtown Nashville.

Nominees are considered for their outstanding contributions to the Nashville community.

Shirley House was the recipient of this honorable award in 2012

She was the 21st person recognized as the Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year.

Past recipients include   Joe Wilson, Ben Casey, Mildred Hinton, Elsie Clark, Cliff Joyner, Roger Murray, Nan Strickland, Ann Richardson, Jo Anne Cooper, W.C. and Thelma Cooke, Bob Joyner, Mary Hobbs McIntyre, William and Betty Sullivan, Jeanette Shaw, Joe and Cheryl Stanton, Jim Boehm and Pete and Edith Gupton, Amy Beasley, Sonny Brantley, Lena Sessoms and Shirley House.

The nomination form should be returned by February 18th, 2013. The awards ceremony will be Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at Nash Arts Center beginning at 7:00 pm. It is free and open to the public. There will be light refreshments after a brief inspirational speaker and ceremony.
