WILLIAM “SAMMY” FRED JOYNER JR.
William “Sammy” Fred Joyner Jr., age 73, passed away  Wednesday, October 03, 2012. Born in Nash County on November 17, 1938, he was the son of the late William Fred Joyner Sr. and Mollie Collins Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Carol Hardison Minton; sisters, Ruth Joyner Oakley, Pearl Joyner Faircloth and Judy Carol Joyner; and brothers-in-law; Alvin Bone and Bobby Skinner.

He is survived by his   wife of 54 years, Betty Lou Eason Joyner; son, William Joyner III and wife Terry; daughter, Kim Hood and husband Mike; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and son-in-law, Ed Minton; brothers, Tommy Joyner and wife Jo, and Mike Joyner and wife Rhonda; sisters, Elsie Bone, Lucille Skinner, Jean Webb and husband Dan, Pat Evans and husband Sammy, and Cathy Smith; brothers-in-law, James “Sonny” Oakley and Lloyd Faircloth; and 51 nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday, October 06, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Fowler and Rev. Evan Bass officiating.  Burial  followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
