Doug Powell, 91, passed away on March 10, 2012. Doug was born in Tarboro on November 21, 1920 to the late, Edward and Sallie Powell. Doug was preceded in death by his wife Mary Edith Branton Powell and 10 siblings.
He is survived by his two children, John Douglas Powell, Jr. of Spring, Texas and Sheila Powell Martin of Rocky Mount. He is also survived by four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Paulie Jones and Grace P. Morgan.
A service will be held Wednesday, March 14th at Port Norfolk Baptist Church, 401 Broad Street, Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Port Norfolk Baptist, First Baptist Church/Rocky Mount or Carolina Donor Services.
