Lois Blanche Shearin Joyner
Lois Blanche Shearin Joyner went to be with her Lord and Savior on  Sunday, March 6, 2011.  Born March 15, 1933 in Nash County to the late Jasper Luscious and Bettie Will Harper Shearin, she was the second born of four children.  Lois was a life member of Nashville Church of God.  She worked 20 years at Rocky Mount Mills and then retired after 20 years of dedicated service from Abbott Laboratories.  She had several names starting with daughter, sister, mama, grandma, grandma Loisy, nunc nunc, Sister Lois and Aunt Bee as her fellow employees of Abbott called her. Lois was a devoted servant of God, as she never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need. There were no boundaries for her love.

Preceding her in death along with her parents was her husband of 39 years, Oliver Dawes (Cub) Joyner and her older sister Mary Gladys Shearin.  Surviving to carry on her legacy is her son Gerald R. Joyner and wife, Inge and daughter Vickie Joyner Glover and husband, Billy, all of Rocky Mount.  She had a great love for everyone, but a special love for the children, grandson William (Billy) Dawes Joyner and wife Kristen, Camilla (Cammy) Cooley Knightlinger and husband Roger, Christopher Craig Cooley and Amelia Hudson, Amanda Cooley Sawrey and husband Wayne and Effie Glover, Kirk, Brian, Amanda, Craig and Alison Shearin.  Great-grandchildren are Mariah Anastasia Crawford, Hunter Dawes and Joseph Ridge Joyner, Avery Campbell Britt, Olivia Ashlyn and Ava Dee Knightlinger, Payton Marie Cooley and Jacob Riley Jones.  Surviving brothers, John Shearin and wife Dell, Lonnie Shearin and her dedicated and loving sister-in-law Charlotte.  Lois had many special people in her life, and in her last few years she had a very special friend in Liliah Croom.  Lois also had many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her so.

The family would like to thank the doctors Deans and Harden, the nurses and NA staff of the ICU unit and 4th floor of NHCS for their dedicated care and kindness to Lois and us during this time.

A visitation was held, Tuesday evening at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 7:00pm – 8:30pm and other times at the home of Vickie Glover.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with entombment following at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation in her honor be given to Nashville Church of God, 606 Clark Street, Nashville NC 27856.

Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC. You may share your memories and send condolences to the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com.
