Edwin Willis Reid, age 87, passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born in Nash County on November 22, 1938 to James L. and Mamie Griffin Reid. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Julia Johnson Reid; son, Edwin "Randy" Reid; son-in-law, James "Jay" Herbert; and brother, James Craig Reid.
He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Reid Herbert; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; in-laws Sue Armstrong (Steve), Carol Brown, Joe Johnson (Marilyn), all of Whitakers, Needham Johnson (Hope) of Rocky Mount, and W.H. Johnson (Irene) of Gainesville, Ga.
A service was held June 7, 2026 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Nashville. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church. |
