Nashville board stalls action on Braswell land transfer

NASHVILLE - What began with an apparent engineering error at a business expansion that led to construction encroaching into Stoney Creek Environmental Park land has created quite the kerfuffle for Nashville town leaders, who have to make sure that a planned land swap will not endanger any state grant conditions.
Braswell Family Farms, which bought a county-constructed shell building at 111 Industry Court that sits on town land in the Nashville Business Center, is in the process of upfitting the building interior to house its new egg distribution facility. Part of the land prep involves adding additional truck docks and a semi-circular location to park semi trucks.

Nashville public works responds to sewage spill

NASHVILLE - The same month that the town of Nashville applied for an $8.6 million Hazard Mitigation grant to make $11 million in improvements to the town's Stoney Creek Sewer Outfall Line, that same line got cracked by two trees March 17th, releasing untreated wastewater into Stoney Creek.
Severe weather predicted March 16 closed Nash County schools for students and staff that Monday, with many considering the threat a "non-event." However, wind gusts of 55mph that night dropped five trees in Wake County, with two of those on houses and one on a power line.

The item was continued because the two council members present at the March 18th meeting - Bill Lumpp and Kate Burns- wanted the full council to be involved in any decision-making, according to Randy Lansing, town manager, who was asked after the meeting the reason for the continuance.

Fear of death not unusual for most Christians

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)
As a child, I was terrified of death. I lost my mother when I was seven years old. So death was not just a figment of my imagination. I saw its sting and I understood how it could tear a family apart.
I still fear death, largely because I continue to view it through the eyes of that seven-year old that lost his mother.

John 11:1-6 ESV
[1] Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

Is God Dead? - The Scrolls Jesus Read

In the winter of 1947, a young shepherd discovered a cave containing clay jars filled with ancient scrolled manuscripts. It turns out that what he had found was one of eleven caves used as an ancient library by the Jewish sect known as the Essenes. These caves were located in an isolated desert community known as Khirbet Qumran. Over the next several years, more than a thousand scrolls were discovered in the network of caves, and they were collectively designated The Dead Sea Scrolls. No less than two hundred of the scrolls were copies of works canonized in the Hebrew and Aramaic Old Testament.

Birthdays should in no way be considered bad days

Most Sundays, I sit behind a rowdy group of octogenarian ladies at church. When I ask how they're doing, I never get "My bunions are acting up" or "I think the gout is coming on."
No, there's usually some sass and always some humor. This past week was no exception. (Names have been abbreviated to protect identities and my backside from catching a swift kick).

Giving our time to youth is an incredible gift money can't buy

Last week's Nashville Graphic carried coverage of the Northern Nash High School Boys Basketball team winning the 6A state championship - the first time since 1968.
Though I'm a Southern Nash High School alumna, I was extremely excited for the Northern Nash Knights when word came they had won. I anxiously awaited for that text to roll in from our folks covering the game. When the phone dinged and I opened the text to see "WE WON!!" -- I couldn't help but to jump out my seat to do a little victory dance myself.
