Luke's Word for the Week

We, typically speaking, spend a great amount of time presenting ourselves for life. Every morning, we wake up, and usually spend more time preparing ourselves to be presentable to our friends and co-workers, than we spend in the Word of God. We, Southerners, spend ample time presenting young women to society as debutante's, in that they are officially presented to society at large. Even hunters, we will spend hours upon hours preparing ourselves to head into the woods or driving to the perfect destination to ensure we are successful in our endeavors.

Word for the week

On July 4, 1776 the Thirteen Colonies of America declared its independence. Every July 4th since then we have celebrated the personal, economic, political, and religious freedom that has grown out of that Declaration of Independence.
But are you really free? Sure, you have the freedom to work at the job you choose and to enjoy your favorite hobby. You may enjoy the freedom to operate a business or run for public office. You have the freedom to marry, raise a family, and buy a home.

July 4th marks lot of anniversaries

My parents, James and Margie, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last week. That is a long time.
At the risk of sounding disrespectful, I'll say that over the course of those 23,360 days, not all of them have been perfect. I feel confident there were words that should not have been said, or things done. There were tragedies and triumphs, average days and great days, major accomplishments and some failures, too.
