Board mulls school facility needs report
Looking at the current economic condition of the Nash-Rocky Mount Schools (NRMS) system and at buildings “costing us more than they’re worth,” Dr. Anthony Jackson, NRMS superintendent, advised the board to talk about “some level of consolidation of facilities. We need to seize every opportunity to be more efficient.”

Castalia passes new amendments
Castalia commissioners held a public hearing last Tuesday and voted to approve new amendments to the town’s zoning regulations in order to meet the demands of a changing society. At the March 5th meeting, commissioners voted to add new solar farm regulations, make changes to existing recreational requirements, and to table the further discussion of firearms amendments pending legal review. More ...

County oks land swap with Nashville
Nash County Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the Town of Nashville that will trade properties and give additional parking for both entities.
The agreement approved on Monday will close a portion of N. Court Street adjacent to the Courthouse. The street right-of-way would be conveyed to Nash County, as would additional property consisting of the alleyway behind Home Health and the public parking spaces, called Drake Alley, located within the existing jail parking lot. More ...

Wayne came on board at the Graphic during the time Joe and Tom Wilson owned the paper. He operated the newspaper press and also ran the commercial print shop back then. He was always one to pay attention to details and was just a joy to be around. More ...

Last week I talked about Buddy, the basset/border collie.  Glad to report he got adopted!  Then there was that HUGE girl, Julie.  She was rescued by a group in Asheville (Brother Wolf Animal Rescue).  It was actually a good week for those we got to promote.  There were sad times too.  A little Pomeranian was brought in that couldn’t stand, but the owner couldn’t afford a vet.
