Remembering 9/11
A ceremony was held at Nashville Fire Department Monday morning to remember those who died September 11, 2001 in terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Spring Hope oks land buy
Despite the lack of final approval for the construction of a new municipal building, Spring Hope Commissioners voted Monday in their regular business meeting to purchase a lot adjacent to the current building for a price of $55,000. Formerly, commissioners had voted to purchase the less than one acre lot contingent upon the decision to construct the new building. However, Monday's move seals the deal to purchase the lot and expand the area owned by the Town of Spring Hope. More ...

New high school site approved
After a brief closed session Monday night, the Nash-Rocky Mount School Board unanimously voted to purchase two parcels of property off Bethelem Road for a new high school. The approval brought a brief round of applause from audeince members.  More ...

RBC Centura to donate $150,000 to Imperial Center
RBC Centura announced that it will donate $150,000 to the Imperial Centre for Arts and Sciences in Rocky Mount as part of a three-year commitment to support the Natural Science Gallery, now renamed the RBC Centura Natural Science Gallery. RBC Centura's donation is part of a $30 million project to refurbish and run the facility, which reopened in January 2006 after being destroyed in a flood following Hurricane Floyd in September 1999. More ...

Hospital's choice of collection procedure is poor
I read an article in The News and Observer Sunday that infuriated me.

Most of us have come to understand that healthcare insurance in this nation is quickly becoming a luxury. And now, after reading an article regarding a Clayton man and his two-year long ordeal, I'm beginning to believe that extended healthcare is too becoming a luxury that most of us won't be able to afford in the future with or without health insurance. More ...
