JAMES “EDWARD” HENDRICKS

James “Edward” Hendricks, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013.  He was born December 30, 1922 in Nash County to the late Johny Raymond and Mamie Joyner Hendricks.  Edward was a life time member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Director and Teacher.  He loved to sing his favorite songs about his Savior.  Edward worked for The Nashville Graphic for eleven years before becoming a poultry producer for Braswell Milling Company until his retirement.  Throughout his working years and well into his retirement, his favorite work was measuring crop land for the Agricultural Extension Service.  He loved his maps and the many friends that he made in the Nash and Edgecombe County farming communities. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers; Garland, Forest, Quentin and Randolph Hendricks, and one sister, Evelyn Hendricks.
 He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-eight years, Ruth Manning Hendricks, one son, Merle E. Hendricks and wife Libby of Rocky Mount, one daughter, Sheila Stone and husband Mike of Middlesex, grandchildren; Elizabeth Williams and husband Ryan of Mebane, Meghan and husband Captain Matthew Helton of Savannah GA, Justin Hendricks of Raleigh, Heather Sherron and husband Brandon of Wendell, Kristin Riley and husband Charles of Zebulon, Allison and Jake Austin of Sims, great-grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, Elizabeth Kate, Samuel, Zachary, Madison and Landon.
Visitation was held Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial was at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations, Nashville.
