WALTER PITT
ROCKY MOUNT – Walter W. "Brownie" Pitt, 92, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Nash General Hospital. Funeral services were held April 19 at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Poole officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1914, to the late Rosa Hendricks Pitt and George Alton Pitt.

He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Bryan Pitt, his brother, William Hoyt Pitt and sister, Bertha Pitt Armstrong.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Pitt Crowell and husband Ken and Mary Bryan Pitt Fryar and husband Hal, all of Rocky Mount; one son, Walter W. "Wrennie" Pitt Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friend Inez Dutton Ward of Rocky Mount.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman.

Arrangements were handled by Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations of Nashville.
