Americans have a right to protest and to activism, that's an inarguable fact.
But, there is a point where it gets to be tiring.
I have a classmate from graduate school who lives in another state and I don't know how she gets anything done, because all I see or hear from her involves one protest after another.

I am a Whole-Life Democrat. I embrace the life of a woman, life in the womb, and life in the world.
I was the only Democrat to vote in support of The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in Health Committee. I also voted for that same Bill (SB 359) on the House Floor.
Research reveals that it is indeed possible for a baby to survive an abortion attempt.

Nash County voters were recently treated to two more examples of why character matters. First freshman Rep. James Gailliard wasted no time in recording his first "flip flop" by changing his vote when faced with political pressure from his party. Then in an op-ed he attempted to mislead voters by citing existing statutes that don't apply to the issue and then proclaim "SB 359 does nothing to further protect the life of a baby."

A Rocky Mount woman pled guilty on Monday to stealing money from her elderly in-laws.
Elizabeth Williamson pled guilty on Monday, June 17 to one count of bank fraud and one count of aggravated identify theft.
From around 2015 to 2017, Williamson helped her elderly in-laws with day-to-day tasks, managed their medication, and payed their bills. Williamson also stole approximately $96,500 from their bank accounts.

Nash County Planning and Inspections issued the following building permits from June 10 through 14.

The Rocky Mount Garden Club hosted its annual luncheon recently at The Main Course in the Belmont Lake Preserves community. A southern style luncheon was served featuring a garden salad with grilled chicken, wine, and dessert.
The ladies had several items to cover during their time together.

Nash Community College EGR 150 Introduction to Engineering students participate each semester in a Boe-Bot contest. The spring 2019 event was held Tuesday, May 7 in the Science and Technology Building. Boe-Bot, or Board of Education robot, is the trade name of a robot kit that is used in junior high, high school and college robotics classes.

Rocky Mount will honor our nation with an Independence Day Celebration that includes fireworks, performances and more, from 6-9 p.m. on July 3 at the Rocky Mount Athletic Stadium.
The city of Rocky Mount's July 3 celebration has become an annual event over the years, and the 2019 edition features musical performances from Rivermist, activities for the family and a fireworks display by Starfire Corporation to end the evening.

A group of ministers are giving residents of area nursing homes the opportunity to be baptized.
The ministers are a part of Word Tabernacle Church.
Minister Bertha Smith said she has a passion for the hurt and lost and while working in nursing homes, got a chance to know a lot of people.

This past Sunday, The Peachtree Baptist Church Congregation, family, and friends took time to remember all the fathers in our congregation. Gifts were provided.
The Sanctuary flower arrangement Sunday was presented to glorify God by Mr. Linwood May in loving honor of his sister, Barbara May Griffin, and in memory of Bill and Louise May.

I understand exactly what the Apostle Paul means when he says, "You used to be slaves to sin." But I didn't understand it until I was born again. Salvation gave me a whole different perspective about the life I used to live.

I recently visited the Virginia Civil War Museum at New Market, Virginia. Of special interest to me was a video presentation recounting the Civil War battle on the site of the present-day museum. The video highlighted "the Field of Lost Shoes. This was a field nearby where the ground was so muddy during the battle that confederate soldiers literally lost their shoes while making their way through the mud and muck.

The Baptist Men enjoyed their monthly breakfast on Sunday, June 16 at 8:30 am.
The youth of Red Oak Baptist Church are currently participating in MFUGE at North Greenville University in South Carolina. The group includes 17 students and 6 adults. They will return home on June 22.

Hello Nashville! To quickly introduce myself, my name is Kaitlyn Stocks and I serve as the Youth Pastor at Nashville United Methodist Church. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and my M.A. in Christian Ministries from Liberty University. I was raised in this beautiful town and I'm grateful to be back, investing in the same community that poured so much into me.

Father's Day at Kingdom International Church brought back a familiar face for honoring of the fathers! Daisy Vick filled in for the special day! There were probably more fathers in attendance on this day than any Father's Day in the past at KIC.
Daisy called for all the fathers to come forward to receive a gift and to have group pictures taken. They each received a bookmark, screwdriver, and carabiner.

Sometimes I wonder who the people are that let their pets die at the Shelter. Many are owners who allow their dogs to roam at will because, after all, "they are in the county." There are some dogs that stick close to home (on a dead end road), like my Lady who protected our house and cars - or at least she thought she did. It used to be that the only time Lady left the back door area was when we were outside, when she could stop guarding. She felt like that was her job.

Sarah Cathryne Coltrane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Coltrane, has been awarded this year's Ann MacPherson Weaver Memorial Scholarship at Rocky Mount Academy. Coltrane recently completed 8th grade at Martin Millennium Academy in Tarboro. She will attend RMA in the fall on a full-tuition scholarship, valued at over $45,000 for four years.

USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) began accepting nominations for county committee members on Friday, June 14, 2019. Agricultural producers who participate or cooperate in an FSA program may be nominated for candidacy for the county committee. Individuals may nominate themselves or others as a candidate.
"I encourage America's farmers, ranchers, and forest stewards to nominate candidates to lead, serve, and represent their community on their county committee," FSA Administrator Richard Fordyce said.
