Yankees surge past the Phillies

ROCKY MOUNT -- The Wesley Men Yankees made the most of their sparse opportunities last Thursday night and, in doing so, came away with a hard-fought 5-1 win against the Phillies of Hester, Moore & Tucker in Rocky Mount Youth Baseball League action.
The Yankees failed to hit a single ball out of the infield cleanly and collected only two hits for their evening's work, but the lights out pitching of Maliq Nicholson, Trent Lewis and Mason Pilgreen offset any offensive woes they might have suffered.

3RD TIME THE CHARM
3RD TIME THE CHARM

NASHVILLE -- Two regular season victories over Edwards should have given Nash Central Middle School coach Mark Wooten a bit of confidence heading into last Friday's championship game of the Tri-County Conference Baseball Tournament.
But citing the old adage that it's difficult to beat a good team three times, Wooten was a bit uneasy despite the fact that his favored Trojans entered the title event with an undefeated record.

BEULAH COMMUNITY NEWS

I hope all the mothers had a really nice Mother's Day on Sunday. We had a great service at Beulah Church of Christ. The attendance was good and we were so thankful to have a lot of visitors. The sermon was brought to us by our minister Chris Matchem and was on "Mothers are the Best Preachers." Chris and his wife, Bre, also sang a duet, which was beautiful. We were also blessed with a solo by Mary Lee Bass, which was beautiful. God has blessed all them with a special talent and we look forward to hearing from them all again.
