Johnnie Mac Batchelor, 61, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010. He was born in Halifax County on May 27, 1949, the son of the late Wiley Ranger Batchelor and Doris Parker Batchelor.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mildred Carol Rowland Batchelor; daughters. Cassandra “Cass” McLatchy of Rocky Mount and Charlotte “Beth” Winfree and husband William of Clayton; two grandchildren; sisters, Carol Harrell and husband Bennie of Dortches, Barbara Griffin and husband Willie of Myrtle Beach, Peggy Griffin and husband Phil of Rocky Mount, and Faye Overman of the Phillipines.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 02, 2011 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Pridgen officiating. Visitation followed  the service and other times at the home of Bennie and Carol Harrell.

Memorials are being requested to be sent to the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem NC 27157 or the Brody School of Medicine, 600 Moye Blvd., Greenville NC 27834. Flowers will also be accepted.
