ROCKY MOUNT - George "Swindell" Duke, 62 died Wednesday, January 10, 2007. He was born in Nash County, March 18, 1944 son of the late Joseph William Duke and Viola Enroughty Duke.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa D. Batchelor and husband, Van B. Batchelor III of Rocky Mount; sisters, Virginia Duke Moss and Shirley Duke Staton and husband, Wiley both of Rocky Mount, Frances Duke Dunn and husband Freddie of Nashville; brother, Kenneth Earl Duke of Rocky Mount.; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
