Grace Merritt Denton, 83, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2010. She was born December 4, 1927 in Hertford County. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Earle Wynns Merritt. Grace retired from Rocky Mount OB GYN and was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Fondwell Denton.

She is survived by one son, Dan Fondwell Denton, Jr., of Raleigh, one daughter, Susan Denton Newcombe and husband Steve Austin Newcombe of Nashville, one brother, Thomas Merritt of Pleasant Garden, NC, one sister, Connie Gorham of Nashville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hicks officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
