ROCKY MOUNT - Ely “EJ” Tucker Jr., 71, passed away, Monday, November 22, 2010. He was born November 19, 1939 in Nash County. He was the son of the late Ely Tucker Sr. and Zeffie Mitchell Tucker. EJ is preceded in death by his son James Tucker and three brothers; Bud, Steve, and Curtis Tucker.    

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Gail Parker Tucker; one daughter, Brenda Tucker Mott and husband Lee of Pinetops; two brothers, Sam Tucker of Rocky Mount and Ray Thomas Tucker and wife Nellie of Elm City; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation was held Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home.  The Funeral service was Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Moss officiating.  The Burial  followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
