Mrs. Mary DeVane Higson, age 99, of Battleboro,  died Friday, August 20, 2010.

Born on April 1, 1911 in Sampson County, she was a daughter of the late George and Mittie DeVane.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy and her husband, Mickey Bulluck of Battleboro; son, Bill and his wife, Wanda Higson of Rocky Mount; sister, Arkie Andrews of Tarboro; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Booth Higson; sisters, Ruth Gurganus and Mattie Draughon; brothers, Samuel DeVane and George DeVane; and grandchildren, Joey Bulluck, Jeffrey Bulluck, and Chad Higson.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2010 in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The Rev. Horace Ward officiated. Burial was  at Pineview Cemetery.
