NASHVILLE - William G. “Bill” Kirkman, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010. He was born September 17, 1929 in Goldsboro. Bill was the son of the late James Hoyle and Lillian Langston Kirkman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy McKinnon Kirkman and grandson, Matthew Ray Massengale.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 20 years, Ann Stallings Kirkman; one son, William Gary Kirkman of Wilson; three daughters, Karen Kirkman Hanckel and husband John of Fayetteville, JoAnn Kirkman Everette and husband Mack of Nashville, Beth Kirkman Massengale and husband Ray of Whitakers; three step-sons, Charles Taylor Dowtin of California, Jon Todd Dowtin of Spring Hope and Christopher Warren Dowtin of Momeyer; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday, August 6, 2010 from 7:00-8:30PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Memorial Service was Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hicks and Rev. Allen Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Nashville UMC or Salem Baptist Church Building Fund.
