Willis Lee Nines, age 88, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, July 22nd 2010. Willis was born to the late James Elijah Nines and Sarah Francis Walker Nines on January 17th 1922 in Nash County, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years, Fannie Leigh Barnes Nines; a daughter, Vivian Kay Nines; four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by  his daughter, Sarah Nines Malpass of Leland; two sons, Alton Lee Nines and his wife, Linda of Currie and Harold Nelson Nines of Nashville; two grandchildren;  two sisters, Lillie Mae Wallace of Weldon and Tempi Bunn and her husband, Lenny of Wilson; and a brother, Roger Nines of Nashville.

The family received friends at Coble Ward- Smith Funeral Services - Wilmington Chapel, on Saturday, July 24th 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m.  on Monday, July 26th 2010 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Chris Wroten officiating. Interment followed with military honors at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family  received friends at the Johnson Funeral Home between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
