Harvie Elton Patterson Sr., age 91, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at  Nash Grove Manor Nursing Home, Nashville.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Short Patterson; three sons, Durwood Gene Patterson, Harvey Elton Patterson, Jr. and Kenneth Wayne Patterson; and two daughters, Doris P. Barwick, and Linda P. Bradshaw Rowe.

He is survived by two daughters, Elaine P. Layton Swanson of Rocky Mount, Delores P. Harrell and Husband Ernest Harrell of Nashville, one son, Robert M. Patterson and wife Teresa Patterson of Cottageville, S. C.;  19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

He was born January 31st, 1919 in Inez in Franklin County to A. T. and Lula Patterson and was the youngest of thirteen children and was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, July 20  at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road, Rocky Mount.

The family received friends Monday night, July 19,  from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends other times at the home of Dee and Ernie Harrell at 6710 Old Bailey Hwy, Nashville, N.C.
