SHERRILLS FORD – James Francis Valentine, 78, died on June 30, 2010 at his home in Sherrills Ford, N.C., near Charlotte. He was a long time resident of Nashville.

Jim was born on January 21, 1932 to Itimous T. and Hazel A. Valentine. He is survived by his wife, Kay Connor Valentine and five children: Timberley, James F. Jr., J. Craig, and Thaddeus W. Valentine and Merideth V. Mitchell.

Surviving also are grandchildren: Courtney, Katie, and Thad Valentine and Sam Mitchell; brother Tim Valentine and sister Betsy V. Fuller.

He served in the United States Army from April 13, 1953 until April 4, 1955. He attended Davidson College prior to military service and UNC-CH after his discharge.

A memorial service will be held at Rehobeth United Methodist Church in Terrell, N.C at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in his memory to either Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658 or Rehobeth UMC, Terrell, NC 28682.
