Roy Julius Pridgen, 77, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010.  He was born December 6, 1932 in the Sandy Cross community of Nash County.

Roy was the son of the late Alice Lindsey Pridgen and John Pridgen. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Edwards; and brothers, Norman and Troy Pridgen.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Helen Newsome Pridgen; brother, John Pridgen and wife Erma of Sandy Cross; sister-in-law, Genevieve Pridgen of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law, Otis Edwards of Nashville; sister-in-law, Jewell West of Virginia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nit and Madison Newsome of Wilmington; special family friend, Marjorie Bone of Sandy Cross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Johnson’s Chapel on English Road with Rev. Ruben Batchelor and Rev. Woody Jones officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
