James “Earl” Joyner, 87, passed away, Saturday, April 24, 2010. He was born December 20, 1922 in Nash County. Earl was the son of the late Richard and Minnie Joyner. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Barnes, two sisters, Marie Weaver and Beulah Pridgen, one brother, Harvey Joyner.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey Winstead Joyner, two daughters, Emily Barnes and husband Charlie of Nashville, Janet Joyner of Elm City, two sisters, Dorothy Winstead and Ollie Mae Poland, both of Elm City, one, sister-in-law, Joyce Joyner of Elm City, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service were Monday, April 26, 2010 at 6:30PM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Pastor Justin Nale officiating. Visitation followed after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church or The Alzheimer’s Assocciation at 3800 Shamrock Drive Charlotte, NC 28215.
