Oscar Harrison Coggin, 76, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009.  He was born January 11, 1933 in Halifax County. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Vanette B. Coggin.

He leaves to cherish his memory; son, Oscar Coggin, Jr. and wife Barbara of Farmville NC; son, Terry Coggin and wife Susan of Nashville NC; daughter, Tanya Joyner and husband David of Rocky Mount NC; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends and relatives 7-8:30pm on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.  A memorial service  was held at 11:00am Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Coffey officiating.  Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
