Meddie Clifton Barnes, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006. Funeral services were held Oct. 13 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations in Rocky Mount with the Rev. Robert Langley officiating. Burial followed at the Bone family cemetery in Nashville.

He was born April 13, 1920 in Nash County to the late Sidney H. Barnes and Victoria Price Barnes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doretha Bone Barnes; four brothers; two sisters; a son, Bobby Wayne Barnes; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Amber Moss.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Marie Barnes Bradbury and husband Jesse F. Bradbury of Nashville; one brother, E.B. Barnes of Virginia; one sister, Odell B. Privette of Elm City; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
