Sam Brown, age 79, passed Saturday evening, March 16, 2026. He was born in Nash County on April 21, 1947. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Summerlin, Jr.; sister, Mary "May" Tickle; brother, Willie "Bud" Brown, Jr.; and twin sister, Susan Pittman.

Sam is survived by his daughters, Kim Greene (Tim Spain) of Rocky Mount, Janet Lanier (Shaun) of Ayden, and Susan Summerlin of Rhode Island; brothers, Jimmy Brown of TN, Jerry Brown (Jane) of Tarboro, Darrel Brown of Whitakers, Charlie Brown (Susan) of Fayetteville, and Ernie Brown (Bobby) of Enfield; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Brown of Enfield; and many nieces, nephews.

A service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2026 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
