CASTALIA - John Drake Freeman, age 74, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. Born in Nash County on January 26, 1952, he was the son of the late William Drake Freeman and Rachel Lynn Inscoe Freeman.

John is survived by his daughter, Shana Freeman; son, Joshua Drake Freeman (Maria Klimvakis); three grandchildren; sisters, Sheila Freeman, Kathy Freeman, Robin Freeman; brother, William (Bill) Freeman (Judy); former wife, Peggy Deans Freeman; nieces, great-nieces and his nephew.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Drake Cemetery at 16748 Red Bud Road Castalia with Kendal Rohrer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to A Chance in the Country fund at 16153 Red Bud Road Castalia, NC 27816 to fund the scholarship at NC State University.
