NASHVILLE - Glenda Ellen Mizelle Surles, age 60, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Born in Chowan County on July 22, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Gussie Wayne Mizelle and Ellen Ruth Smithwick Mizelle.

Glenda is survived by her husband, John Andrew "Andy" Surles; her son, Joshua Peele (Amber); her step-son, Allen Jordan; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Susan Annette Mizelle Sherrod (Marty) and Lori Anne Mizelle Earls; her brother, Jeffrey "Jeff" Wayne Mizelle (Lori); and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A special gathering of family and friends to celebrate Glenda's life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Rocky Mount.
