NASHVILLE - Jimmie Gray Leonard, 77, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009. He was born February 17, 1932 in Nash County. He was the son of the late Louis and Bettie Hawkins Leonard. He was preceded in death by Clyde and Steven Leonard; and grandson, James Tyler Leonard.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Leonard of the home; one daughter, Nancy Leonard Woodruff of Nashville; one son, Mark Leonard of Roanoke Rapids; one step-son,  James Allen Daniel of Sharpsburg; sister, Bettie Leonard of Wendell; brothers, Plummer Leonard of Rocky Mount, Spencer Leonard of Nashville and Bob Leonard of Nashville; and nine grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Johnson’s Chapel of Nashville. Funeral services were held 3 pm Monday, March 30, 2009 in Nashville. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church, 6701 Taylor Store Road, Nashville, NC 27856.
