SPRING HOPE - Mary Leigh Edwards Wood, 100, passed away October 20, 2025. She was born April 18, 1925 in Nash County, the daughter of the late Jonathan Clee Edwards and Eleanor Powell Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Baylus Claiborn Wood; sisters, Othelle Griffin, Elsie Coppedge; brothers, Clem Edwards, Brodious Edwards.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara W. Boykin (Mark) of Bailey; sons, Charles Wood of Spring Hope and Bobby Wood (Cathy) of Spring Hope; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Pace of Tarboro; sister-in-law, Glenda Edwards of Rocky Mount and several nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held October 23, 2025 at Holly Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Conner and Dr. Benjamin Quinn officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery, 1640 Holly Rd, Spring Hope.
