Jeannette Ricks Bass, age 84, passed away on August 26, 2025. Born in Edgecombe County she was the daughter of the late William Lacy Smith and Grace Ricks Smith. In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Vick.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Ray Bass; daughter, Deborah Tyson (Tracey); her brother, Douglas Smith (Jane); three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held August 29, 2025, at Red Oak Cemetery.
