Joan Faye Baker passed away on May 20, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on December 16, 1944, in Nash County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and Bessie Hazel Joyner.

She is survived by her son, Duane Baker; her brother, Randy Smith; and her sister, Brenda Allen (James); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Don Samuel Baker, and her brothers, Donald Ray Smith and Kenzie Dale Smith.

A graveside service was held May 24, 2025 at Thompson Chapel, officiated by Reverend William Pike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting Faye's generous and compassionate spirit.
