ROCKY MOUNT - Charles A. "Charlie" Lewis, age 80, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born in Nash County on August 4, 1944, son of Thomas and Betty Clark Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost fifty years, Merlyn Arnold Lewis; and brothers, Bill Lewis, Tommy Lewis and Gene Lewis.

He is survived by his sons, Charlie Lewis, Jr. (Jenifer) of Nashville and Scott Lewis (Melissa) of Rocky Mount; sister, Ann Lewis Evans (George) of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law Joyce Arnold of Rocky Mount, Jackie Varnell (Joe) of Pinetops, Eunice Dietrich of Rocky Mount and Bonnie Arnold of Nashville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; along with several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Proctor's Chapel Baptist Church, 2917 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
