SPRING HOPE - Gerald "Wayne" Harper, age 81, passed away April 10, 2025. He was born in Edgecombe County on February 5, 1944, son of Gidd and Valeria Edwards Harper, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joy Lamm Harper; son, David Wayne Harper of Spring Hope; daughter, Wanda Harper Sohn (Mike) of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Bobby Harper of Youngsville; sister, Eddye Meyers of Rocky Mount; and mother-in-law, Josephine Lamm; several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Battleboro Cemetery, Cemetery Drive, Battleboro. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
