DORTCHES - Lynda Elizabeth Andrews Garris, age 81, passed away March 2, 2025. Born in Edgecombe County on February 1, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Robert Thurman Andrews and Myrtle Elizabeth Shearin Andrews.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Burnice Garris; her son, Robert Garris and wife, Christina; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren,

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Dortches Baptist Church, 4776 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, with Pastor Rick Gaskins and Pastor Keith Griffin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
