William Elbert Cherry, 83, passed away October 11, 2024. He was born October 4, 1941 to the late Elbert and Lottie Wheeler Cherry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rosa Zammiello Cherry; sisters Lottie Ruth, Marie Ford, Louise Ezzell, Nancy Strickland and Margie Mangum; brothers Edward and Allen Cherry.

He is survived by his daughters Laurie Grimes and Tammy Davis (Jeff); three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister Barbara Jones (Charles); brother Roger Cherry; many other family members, nieces, nephews.

A funeral service was held October 15, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Cherry officiating. The burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
