NASHVILLE - Hilma Ray Stewart Wheeler, age 100, passed away September 18, 2024. Born in Edgecombe County on May 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George Benjamin Stewart and Sadie Mae Price Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Dallas Wheeler; her son, Kenneth "Ray" Wheeler; and her brother, George Marvin Stewart, Sr.

Hilma is survived by her daughter, Sarah Wheeler Unrue (Bob); her son, Dallas Lynn Wheeler; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held September 21, 2024 at Battleboro Cemetery, Cemetery Drive, Battleboro with Parker Phillips officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hilma's name to Battleboro United Methodist Church, 229 E. Battleboro Ave, Battleboro, NC 27809, or to UNC Hospice and Palliative Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Dr. Building 100, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
