Mildred Alford Shelton, 82, passed away August 24, 2024.

She was born March 21, 1942, to the late Illiff and Nora Alford in New Bern. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Shelton, of over 54 years, sisters Brenda Boykin (Ben) and Virginia Joyner (Bud) and brothers Bobby and Billy Alford (Gladys), and brother-in-law Sheron Bennett.

She is survived by her sons, David, Wayne and John Shelton; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Muriel Bennett and Wanda Alford (fiancé Tim Beard), sister-in-law Aileen Alford, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Nashville,followed by a service to at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel. A private graveside service will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
