ROCKY MOUNT - Richard Allen "Tump" Tanner, age 59, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024. Born in Edgecombe County on March 21, 1965, he was the son of the late Ernest Gray Tanner and Alice Virginia Williams Tanner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ernest "Tee" Tanner.

Tump is survived by his sons, Jason Tanner and wife, Beverly, Matthew Tanner and wife, Hannah, Markus Tanner and wife, Haley, and Johnny Boe and wife, Ashley; daughter, Lianne Stone and husband, Chester; 10 grandchildren; his sister, Sandra "Jo" Martin and husband, nieces and great-nieces and nephews.

A service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Bill Harper officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home until 4 p.m.
