ROCKY MOUNT - Harriet Parker Howell, age 78, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2024. Her life began on February 20, 1946 in Rocky Mount, as the third daughter born to Theodore Taft "Country" and Evada Rhodes Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Parker Griffin; granddaughter, Leah Whiteside Howell; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Gayle Hess.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Grady Ward Howell; sons, Darrell Ward Howell (Catherine) of Newport and James Taft Howell (Elizabeth) of Wake Forest; sister, Judy Parker Willis of Sumerduck, Va.; along with many nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.

7 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A service will be held at at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church in Rocky Mountwith Reverend Brandon Dees and Reverend Blake Sorie officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service, also at the church. The family respectfully asks that visits be limited to the church.
