ROCKY MOUNT - Rosa Alene Ivey "Ms. A" Hagwood, age 97, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Born in Harnett County on October 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Washington Ivey, Sr. and Ruby Alice Stewart Ivey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lawrence Branch "L.B." Hagwood; her sisters, Doris Ivey Chandler, Elizabeth Ivey Anascavage, and Pearl Ivey Chandler; and her brothers, Edgar "Ed" Ivey, Jr. and Earl Ivey.

Alene is survived by her sons, Lawrence "Mike" Hagwood (Eden) and William "Bill" Hagwood (Lynn); 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother, Kenny "Ken" Ivey; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A service will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S Circle Dr, Rocky Mount with Rev. Nathan Wittman officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at Englewood United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alene's name to the Children's Ministries of Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S Circle Dr, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
