Randolph "Gilbert" Tyson, Sr., 84, passed away December 29, 2023. He was born in Nash County to the late Randolph Yuatt and Odell Edwards Tyson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Lamm and Sylvia Joyner.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris; sons, Randy Tyson and wife Jeanne, and Chad Tyson and wife Kristen; daughters, Karen Luper and husband Buddy and Lisa Holloman and husband Hal; brother, Johnnie Tyson and wife Linda; sisters Elaine Whitehead and Genia Tyson Bone; 7 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 2, from 6-8 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 3, at 11 am in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery.
